The regulations in force in France require manufacturers of cosmetic products and wipes to display on the labels:

• The list of ingredients in descending order of their weight (quantity) at the time of their incorporation, on the labels, according to their unique name appearing in the international register International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients
• Precautions for using the product
• The country of origin of the ingredients when imported from a third country (outside the European Union)
• The minimum durability date, until which the cosmetic product continues to fulfill its initial function and remains safe for the user
• The duration of use after opening (obligatory display only for products with a minimum shelf life of more than 30 months).

Love & Green obviously respects these regulations for its range of wipes and cosmetics and we have decided to go further: we provide explanations and an understandable translation thanks to the Truth About Cosmetics rating of the often opaque ingredient lists. - because being transparent is good, but being transparent and clear is even better.

For diapers and feminine protection, there is no equivalent regulation: never mind, Love & Green was the first brand of diapers and feminine hygiene to publish its exhaustive list of ingredients on its packaging and on its website from 2017!

But we don't just list a vague list of ingredients, we detail each part of the product, so you know exactly what ingredient is in which part of the product.

An example which was noticed by the public authorities who made this transparency compulsory on baby diapers in July 2019. We are mobilizing with the public authorities so that this obligation is extended to feminine and incontinence protection as quickly as possible!

The European Ecolabel and the Nordic Swan label aim to guarantee that diapers, pants, feminine hygiene protection and incontinence protection meet quality requirements and respect the environment throughout their manufacturing cycle and life ( sustainable management of forests, limitation of toxic discharges, etc.).

Both labels guarantee that:

➔ Criteria are developed to reduce toxicity for humans and the aquatic environment (prohibition, for example, of using certain chemicals and adding perfumes to the composition of products)

➔ The manufacturing of products has limited impacts on the environment : energy consumption linked to reduced production, use of responsibly produced raw materials

➔ At least 25% (European Ecolabel) or 50% (Nordic Swan) of the wood fibers used in their production are certified from sustainably managed forests (FSC® or PEFC labels). We go beyond the criterion with 100% FSC® certified cellulose in its diapers, pants, feminine protection and incontinence protection.

➔ The production chain of certified products and their components is known and monitored

These labels are subject to annual evaluations by independent certification bodies.

The cellulose used by Love & Green is FSC® certified , meaning it comes from well-managed forests and controlled sources. We are committed to fighting deforestation by choosing FSC® certified cellulose which comes from Finnish forests.

TCF (Totally Chlorine-Free): Chlorine-free process. Cellulose is a plant material (from wood) which has a brown color when raw. Almost all of the layers on the market are bleached to eliminate lignin (a component of wood which provides rigidity and impermeability) and make the cellulose more flexible and hydrophilic. Some manufacturers use chlorine derivatives to whiten cellulose. We use a more natural and healthier process for the baby: oxygen bleaching.

GOTS is based on international specifications supervised by four organizations specializing in organic farming and responsible textile production . It certifies environmentally friendly production and transformation processes, respect and improvement of working conditions, the promotion of the use of organic fibers, and the ban on dangerous inputs such as toxic heavy metals, aromatic solvents… This strict and independent label allows us to offer you products with cotton from organic farming from sustainable and responsible sectors.

All our products are also Cruelty Free certified. This certification issued by the PETA association (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) guarantees the absence of animal testing in raw materials and during manufacturing.

In addition, all our products are vegan except the body & hair moisturizer which contains beeswax so it is our only non-vegan product!

COSMOS is an international specification created by a consortium of national and international associations and organizations (BDIH, Cosmébio, Ecocert, ICEA and Soil Association) in order to harmonize the guarantees of the most demanding historical labels of organic cosmetics between different countries of the world. Its objective is to guarantee that cosmetics and wipes respect the environment and human health throughout their life cycle through responsible production and transformation processes, respect for biodiversity, the absence (at- above 2% of the total) of petrochemical ingredients (parabens, phenoxyethanol, synthetic perfumes and dyes for example).

The COSMOS label prohibits the use of plants, plant materials and microorganisms that have been genetically modified (GMO), as well as primary raw materials extracted from living or slaughtered animals. It is permitted to use ingredients of animal origin provided that they are produced by animals but do not constitute a part of the animal and do not cause the death of the animal concerned (honey, milk etc...).

It offers two levels of certification:

• COSMOS NATURAL certification which guarantees that there are at least 95% ingredients of natural origin out of the total ingredients.
• COSMOS ORGANIC certification which goes even further and guarantees that a minimum of 95% of “agro-ingredients” (plants and ingredients of animal origin such as honey, milk, etc.) come from Organic Farming; that there is a minimum of 20% of ingredients from Organic Farming out of the total ingredients; and that chemically processed ingredients are biodegradable.

This label is subject to an annual audit by an independent certification body.
